Originally from Dallas, Texas, Kara LaMoure received her BM in Applied Music from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where she studied under John Hunt. She is now pursuing her Master of Music Degree at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, where she studies under Christopher Millard.
Professionally, she has performed with a number of ensembles, including the Southern Tier Symphony, The Living Opera, and the Rochester Oratorio Society. Summer festival appearances include the Texas Music Festival and the International Festival-Institute at Round Top, where her teachers included Jeff Robinson, Eric Arbiter, Benjamin Kamins, and Kristin Wolfe Jensen. With her woodwind trio, she has been a featured recitalist at Rochester’s St. Michael’s concert series.
As a founder of the Breaking Winds, she has written and published arrangements for the ensemble.
